The lie of rejection
Christian devotional 06/08/2020
Oftentimes in life, we find an amazing faith based video we love it so much and are so on fire for God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit and we share it to sometimes to a family member, a close friend, a loved one, or a stranger online just to be rejected and felt horrible afterwards feeling like how could they have done and/or said that to me. Feeling hurt little inside when all we wanted to do was share the love of Jesus. Don’t worry you are not alone. First I want to start off by staying always remember that 99% of the time they are not rejecting you they are rejecting your views and beliefs. It’s something I’m still learning and reminding myself daily. Learning how to respond and having the right tools will help defuse the situation.
I want to start off by quoting James 1:19 “Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:”
Some versions say quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry
This is so important when someone confronts you it is human nature to respond with anger and with something along the lines of I can’t believe you just said that how dare you. I want to first say we must never back down on our faith but we must also learn to have compassion, see where they are coming from, and to respond with love not hate.
I want to bring to your attention John 15:15-21 This is so important when someone hates you and rejects you!
15Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you. 16Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you. 17These things I command you, that ye love one another. 18If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. 19If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. 20Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also. 21But all these things will they do unto you for my name’s sake, because they know not him that sent me.
I gave you the whole set of verses because I didn’t want to take anything out of context. First I want you to notice verse 18 Jesus says if the world hates you know it hates me first. So everything and anything you can possibly go through Jesus has already been through. People will find any reason to dislike you or discredit you but don’t let it faise you always remember where you came from. Jesus loves you and don’t you ever forget it just because someone rejects your faith.
Matthew 28:19 – Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
Teach, love, and learn to listen no matter who rejects you or dislikes you because you have a relationship with Jesus.
Pray daily, read the Bible, always love no matter what rejection comes your way. Love by example. People will reject you, hurt you, use you, and try to take advantage of you. Don’t let them mistake Christianty for weakness. Yes we love you and want to help you but at the end of the day Jesus comes first.
Hebrews 4:12 “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
So people will get mad, angry, and feel trapped because it’s the Holy Spirit calling them to repent of their sins, accept Jesus into their life, and to love no matter what.
So if someone rejects you turn to 1 Peter 5:7 – Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
Never forget when This young ruler showed great earnestness. He asked what he should do now, that he might be happy forever.
“And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, that is, God.”
For Most ask for good to be had in this world; any good
Psalms 4:6 “There be many that say, Who will shew us any good? LORD, lift thou up the light of thy countenance upon us.”
… He asks for good to be done in this world, in order to enjoy the greatest good in the other world. Christ encouraged this address by assisting his faith, and by directing his practice. But here is a sorrowful parting between Jesus and this young man. He asks Christ what he shall do more than he has done, to obtain eternal life; and Christ puts it to him, whether he has indeed that firm belief of, and that high value for eternal life which he seems to have. Is he willing to bear a present cross, in expectation of future crown? The young man was sorry he could not be a follower of Christ upon easier terms; that he could not lay hold on eternal life, and keep hold of his worldly possessions too. He went away grieved. See Matthew 6:24, Ye cannot serve God and mammon …”
A Prayer for When You Feel Rejected
“Lord, I release my grip on all the things I was holding on to, preventing me from returning Your passionate embrace. I want nothing to hold me but You. So, with breathless wonder, I give You all my faith, all my hope, and all my love.
I picture myself carrying the old, torn- out boards that inadequately propped me up and placing them in a pile. This pile contains other things I can remove from me now that my new intimacy- based identity is established.
I lay down my need to understand why things happen the way they do.
I lay down my fears about others walking away and taking their love with them.
I lay down my desire to prove my worth.
I lay down my resistance to fully trust Your thoughts, Your ways, and Your plans, Lord.
I lay down being so self- consumed in an attempt to protect myself.
I lay down my anger, unforgiveness, and stubborn ways that beg me to build walls when I sense hints of rejection.
I lay all these things down with my broken boards and ask that Your holy fire consume them until they become weightless ashes.
And as I walk away, my soul feels safe. Held. And truly free to finally be me. Amen.”
Always remember where you came from never lose hope, never lose faith in the one who made you. If you have any prayer requests feel free to email me or message me. Patricktufts23@gmail.com
God Bless in the name of Jesus AMEN.
