Watching what you say.

With social media and phones making it easier and easier to send a text within seconds we are saying things in the heat of the moment that we don’t mean. Back in the old days people had to call a landline phone as is for the person they wanted to yell at and took much more time. Often, they had to confront their problems in person. Now what a lot of people do is hide behind a phone or computer say one wrong thing and boom we can never take it back! So, Today I want to talk to you about what the bible says about watching what you say!

Ephesians 4:29 – Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.

What this is saying is don’t let anything bad or corrupt be said by you. Say things to lift people up and bring them back to Christ not to put them down!

Mark chapter 7:20-23

20 And he said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man.21 For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,22 Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness:23 All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.

A lot can be learned from the book of Mark. If you haven’t read it you should but this is taking about watching what you say. Do not swear, talk about people, curse Gods name in vain etc. Do not go out of your way to talk bad about people lift them up and pray for them. Don’t talk them down if they are clearly trying to glorify God. There is nothing worse to call someone a liar if you do those are fighting words people will never forget that. I try my best never to lie on purpose but to call me a liar is a bold statement. Recently I got called a layer and it really took me by surprise. It’s even harder when it’s someone you value as a friend and thought you could trust. It wasn’t anything bad that I was being accused of. I am a welder, I am a preacher, I am a guitarist. I’m still in school for welding but that doesn’t make me not a welder. I finished my MiG certificate; I am a guitarist been playing for 15+ years just because I don’t have a guitar degree doesn’t mean I’m not a Guitarist. People you are brothers in Christ should be there to lift you up not go out of there way to talk bad about you then come to your face and say your lying because I said I Was a preacher, Guitarist, and welder. I’m in school for it yes but I could still pass a welding test and get a job if I needed to. Calling someone a layer is very hurtful. Forgive people even though it can be very hard. Pray for them and be watchful.
