Forgiving people and letting the past be the past.
One of the hardest things to do for most people is to let things go and surrender it to God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. To pray and be the first one to say I’m sorry.
Acts Chapter 23:16-22
16 And when Paul’s sister’s son heard of their lying
in wait, he went and entered into the castle, and told Paul.
17 Then Paul called one of the centurions unto him, and said, Bring this young man unto the chief captain: for he hath a certain thing to tell him.
18 So he took him, and brought him to the chief captain, and said, Paul the prisoner called me unto him, and prayed me to bring this young man unto thee, who hath something to say unto thee.
19 Then the chief captain took him by the hand, and went with him aside privately, and asked him, What is that thou hast to tell me?
20And he said, The Jews have agreed to desire thee that thou wouldest bring down Paul to morrow into the council, as though they would enquire somewhat of him more perfectly.
21But do not thou yield unto them: for there lie in wait for him of them more than forty men, which have bound themselves with an oath, that they will neither eat nor drink till they have killed him: and now are they ready, looking for a promise from thee.
22So the chief captain then let the young man depart, and charged him, See thou tell no man that thou hast shewed these things to me.
I want you to know verse 19 how they took him by the hand and talked to him in private. This essential if we want to keep our loved ones happy and in our lives. We need to pray and let the Holy Spirit tell us what to say. One of the worst things we can do is call someone out who we Love and have a disagreement in public. They will never react the right way. Can you think of a time that someone got called out in front of everybody? I bet it didn’t go very well. The best thing to do is to take them aside and talk to them privately. Tell them in a nice way your concerns and that you are sorry and that you truly mean it!
James chapter 5:13-18
13 Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms. 14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: 15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. 16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. 17 Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months. 18 And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.
In this passage I want you to focus on verse 19 confessing your faults is one of the hardest things for people to do. You will be so happy that you confessed your faults and said you were sorry. There is so much power in prayer, pray daily, more than once, and surrender it to God! Take action!! Life is too short before you know it your loved ones, the people you were mad at and never forgave will die then you will have to live the rest of your life knowing you never said you were sorry.
