As we draw near to Easter and as we continue to study the prophecies of Jesus. Today we are looking at the Psalm Sunday events. Jesus once He had set face to go to Jerusalem, and sent the disciples to retrieve the colt. He in fact entered Jerusalem as a great prophet to many as the Messiah. This would not set well with the ruling class. In the end it did not set well with many of the common people. However, just as was prophesied He entered Jerusalem on an colt and the people honored Him greatly by laying out palms and even their clothes.
Zechariah 9:8-9 And I will encamp about mine house because of the army, because of him that passeth by, and because of him that returneth: and no oppressor shall pass through them any more: for now have I seen with mine eyes. 9. Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.
This prophecy came true as we see in Matthew witnessed this very event and wrote of it.
Matthew 21:1-11 And when they drew nigh unto Jerusalem, and were come to Bethphage, unto the mount of Olives, then sent Jesus two disciples, 2.Saying unto them, Go into the village over against you, and straightway ye shall find an ass tied, and a colt with her: 3. loose them, and bring them unto me. 4. And if any man say ought unto you, ye shall say, The Lord hath need of them; and straightway he will send them. 5.All this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, 6. Tell ye the daughter of Sion, Behold, thy King cometh unto thee, meek, and sitting upon an ass, and a colt the foal of an ass. 7. And the disciples went, and did as Jesus commanded them, 8.And brought the ass, and the colt, and put on them their clothes, and they set him thereon. 8. And a very great multitude spread their garments in the way; others cut down branches from the trees, and strawed them in the way. 9. And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the Son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest. 10. And when he was come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, Who is this? 11.And the multitude said, This is Jesus the prophet of Nazareth of Galilee.
So just as the prophecies came to be, so, will it be of His return for His church , then when He does return to conquer the Earth and those that oppose. His children, the Jews. People can deny these facts just as they did 2000 years ago but, their denial makes it No less true. So, as we look to Easter and as we come to the remembrance of His sacrifice for us take a moment to think about your relationship with this great Savior.
