As I wrote yesterday, we will be discussing the prophecies of Christ birth. Over the next few days we are going to look as to where in the Old Testament that the prophecies was made. Then see where they were fulfilled in the New Testament. We need to be made aware Jesus and the plan of salvation have been since the beginning of time. As Bro. Carl Robbins always says, God made the plan of salvation before He ever made the man Jesus Christ. We need to understand and learn of Jesus, if not we can find ourselves in the same place the Jews did during Jesus’s time. They were looking for a Messiah but could not allow themselves to believe this humble man of God could be Him. In the First Book of the Bible Genesis we learn He will be born in the seed and of a women. Genesis 3:15 King James Version (KJV) 15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. Then we see the fulfill meant of that prophecy in Galatins Galatians 4:4 King James Version (KJV) 4 But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, The Jews themselves were promised he would be from the lineage of Abraham as seen in Genesis 17:16 6 And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee. Here in Acts 3 we find this being true as well. Acts 3:25 King James Version (KJV) 25 Ye are the children of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying unto Abraham, And in thy seed shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed. Then we find he will be the be in the lineage of Isaac Genesis 17:19 (KJV) 19 And God said, Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son indeed; and thou shalt call his name Isaac: and I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his seed after him. Then Matthew tells us this too comes true in Christ descending through Joseph Matthew (KJV) 1 The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham. 2 Abraham begat Isaac; and Isaac begat Jacob; and Jacob begat Judas and his brethren; 3 And Judas begat Phares and Zara of Thamar; and Phares begat Esrom; and Esrom begat Aram; 4 And Aram begat Aminadab; and Aminadab begat Naasson; and Naasson begat Salmon; 5 And Salmon begat Booz of Rachab; and Booz begat Obed of Ruth; and Obed begat Jesse; 6 And Jesse begat David the king; and David the king begat Solomon of her that had been the wife of Urias; 7 And Solomon begat Roboam; and Roboam begat Abia; and Abia begat Asa; 8 And Asa begat Josaphat; and Josaphat begat Joram; and Joram begat Ozias; 9 And Ozias begat Joatham; and Joatham begat Achaz; and Achaz begat Ezekias; 10 And Ezekias begat Manasses; and Manasses begat Amon; and Amon begat Josias; 11 And Josias begat Jechonias and his brethren, about the time they were carried away to Babylon: 12 And after they were brought to Babylon, Jechonias begat Salathiel; and Salathiel begat Zorobabel; 13 And Zorobabel begat Abiud; and Abiud begat Eliakim; and Eliakim begat Azor; 14 And Azor begat Sadoc; and Sadoc begat Achim; and Achim begat Eliud; 15 And Eliud begat Eleazar; and Eleazar begat Matthan; and Matthan begat Jacob; 16 And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ. 17 So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations. We need to understand just as these prophecies have come true all of the prophecies all the others will come to be as well. If you have any questions or comments email me at deon.burgett@gmail.com
