“You are my sunshine my only sunshine You make me happy when skies are grey You’ll never know dear how much I love you So please don’t take my sunshine away” You are my sunshine “is a popular song written by Jimmie Davis and Charles Mitchell and first recorded in 1939. It has been declared one of the state songs of Louisiana because of its association with Davis, a country music singer and governor of the state in the years 1944″ Throughout generations we have heard this song sung, I sun it as a kid and I’m sure you did as well.
Without God You Are My Sunshine would have never seen the day of light. No I mean it!
We read in the first five verses of the Bible in the book of Genesis that this is true!
1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. 2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. 3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. 4 And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. 5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.
See so without God creating light he would have never written such a iconic song. That everyone from Babies, to kids, to octogenarian, to even centenarian, to grandmothers, and grandfathers and even heard on The Simpsons So, you can tell how diverse this song really is!
42Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away. 43Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. 44But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; 45That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.46For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? 47And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so? 48Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
What this is saying is love your neighbours, and the people who are your enemies, people who don’t support you and pray for them, and invite them to church, and let them know they are loved by God and Jesus. WE ARE ALL CHILDREN OF GOD WHO IS IN Heaven. He made sunlight, he made rain, so that we can plant the seed and lead people to God and our Lord and savior Jesus!
