Ten Commandments In the new Testament.

Below I will be typing all the Ten Commandments of the new testament and giving a description of what each what means. I Will also Have the scripture to back up these commandments. It is very IMPORTANT we know the Ten Commandments to live right with God, Our Lord and Savior Jesus, and the Holy Spirit.

1. Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
Matthew 22:37 “Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.”
What this commandment is saying is there is only one Lord and God. We should love the Lord our God with all our heart and all our soul. If you worrship false Gods there will be serious problems come judgement day.

2. Thou shalt not make upon thee any graven image.
1 John 5:21 “Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.
Corinthians 10:19-20 “What say I then? that the idol is any thing, or that which is offered in sacrifice to idols is any thing? But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils.”
What this is saying is don’t idolize people and don’t offer sacrifices to famous people and idols. Do not worship devils, famous people, and people who aren’t looking out for your best intrest Spiritally.

3. Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord Thy God in vain.
Matthew 5:33 – 37
“Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths: But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God’s throne: Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King. Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black. But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.”
James 5:12 “But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any other oath: but let your yea be yea; and your nay, nay; lest ye fall into condemnation.”

4. Remember the Sabbath day and keep it holy.
Hebrews 4:4, 8 “For he spake in a certain place of the seventh [day] on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works. . . For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day.”
Matthew 12:8 “For the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath day.”
Luke 4:16 “And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read.”
Mark 2:27 “And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath:”
Mark 16:1 “And when the sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him.”
Matthew 24:20 “But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:”
Matthew 28:1 “In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.”

The Sabbith day is Saturday and is ment to be kept Holy. It is the day that God gave us rest.”While some believe the transition from Saturday to Sunday worship began right after the resurrection” of Jesus Christ. The resurrection is why we have church on Sunday to praise, worship, and honor Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.

While some believe the transition from Saturday to Sundayworship began right after the resurrection, others see the change as a gradual progression over the course of history. Today, many Christian traditions believe Sunday is the Christian Sabbath day.

5. Honour thy father and thy mother.
Ephesians 6:1-2 “Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise;”
Matthew 19:19 “Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.”
Matthew 15:4 – 6 “For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death.
But ye say, Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me;
And honour not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition.”
What this is saying is to honour, obey, and listen to our mother and father. Do not swear at your partents, your mother and father is a gift love them with all your heart and treat them with love and respect.

6. Thou shalt not kill.
Matthew 5:21-22 “Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment: But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.”
Matthew 19:18 “He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,”
1 John 3:15 “Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.”
James 2:11 “For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law.”
Do not kill anyone, or hurt anyone. Do not stay angery with your brothers, sisters, Family Members, and loved ones.

7. Thou shalt not commit adultery.
James 2:11 “For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law.”
Matthew 19:18 “He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,”
Matthew 19:9 “And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery.”
Matthew 5:27-28 “Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.”
Do not commit adultery meaning do not have sex or date a person when you are married or they are married. Do not put your wife on the side lines to cheat and be a bad person.

8. Thou shalt not steal.
Matthew 19:18 “He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,”
Do not steal anything from anyone!! If you pray, repent, start living with God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit and take action God will help you provide there is no reason for you to steal because God will help you provide. I truly believe that.

9. Thou shalt not bear false witness.
Matthew 19:18 “He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,”
Do not bear false witness meaning do not testify to something you do know is true. Do not “…lie… about or misrepresent the truth about some event, person, or thing.” Always be honest!

10. Thou shalt not covet.
Romans 7:7 “What shall we say then? is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.”

To sum this up nobody is perfect not even close. To say I am perfect and have never sinned or lied would be a big lie. I’m not perfect I have done and said this I regreat. The goal is to keep the commandments as much as humanly possible. We are living in New Testament times so we have to be made ready so we can have eternal life in Heaven.

JUST LIKE THE CONVERSATION BETWEEN KEVIN AND HIS MOM IN THE MOVIE HOME ALONE.

“Stay up there. I don’t want to see you again tonight. I don’t want to see you for the rest of my life. I don’t want to see anybody else either. I hope you don’t mean that. You’d feel pretty sad if you woke up and didn’t have a family. No, I wouldn’t. Then say it again. Maybe it’ll happen. I hope I never see any of you jerks again! I wish they would all just disappear”

He said “I don’t want to see you for the rest of my life. I don’t want to see anybody else either.” He was very mad and felt he was treated unfaily. He was picked on, told lies to, and he had enough. After a while of being home alone he realizes that he loves his family so much and misses them more then he ever thought he could. He deeply conveys this in the movie when he is talking to Santa.
“- Can I talk to you for a minute? – Quickly. Santa’s running late. I know you’re not the real Santa Claus. Huh, what makes you say that? Just out of curiosity. – I’m old enough to know how it works. – All right. But I also know you work for him. – I’d like you to give him a message. – Shoot. Kevin McCallister, 681 Lincoln Blvd. Do you need the phone number? No, that’s all right. This is extremely important. Please tell him instead of presents, I just want my family back.”
So you can see when he is talking to santa he is willing to give up everything a kid would love just to get his family back! He tells the santa to tell the real santa to give the “real Santa” a message saying “Please tell him instead of presents, I just want my family back.” So it shows how much he truly loved them and wanted them back. Just like us we get mad and say things similar, but God is a all knowning and very loving God. He knows are hearts content and that’s all that matters. Let your loved ones know you are sorry, repent to God, and live right you are on this earth! Very similarly in the movie Home ALone Just like the church scene when he opens up his heart to God, Jesus, and his next door neighbor!(Click here to see the church scene.)

Remember what Paul wrote, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. This is true Gods glory is so amazing, but the only way to God is through his ONLY BEGOTTEN SON Jesus Christ and If we just believe, repent, and start living right with God our lives will be transformed and you will have eternal life in heaven.
