Verily I say unto you

This one is going to be longer then usual, but it is very important because it is the words of Jesus. I will put them in red just like most Bibles do and I will break down each passage. This is very important to understand. This what Jesus is telling you what will happen, How it will happen, his wise words, and more.

Words & meaning:

Verily – “truly; certainly”

Jot or Tittle – “a very small amount”

Scribe – “A group of Jewish leaders who flourished from the time of the Exile until the destruction of the Jewish state”

Uttermost – “farthest, greatest, or highest degree”

Pharisees – “a member of an ancient Jewish sect, distinguished by strict observance of the traditional and written law, and commonly held to have pretensions to superior sanctity”

Scribes – “a person who copies out documents, especially one employed to do this before printing was invented.”

Righteousness – “the quality of being morally right or justifiable”

Thence – “from a particular place, especially when you are giving directions about how to get somewhere.”

Alms – “money, food, or other donations given to the poor or needy; anything given as charity: The hands of the beggars were outstretched for alms.”

Boast – “talk with excessive pride and self-satisfaction about one’s achievements, possessions, or abilities.”

Synagogue – “the building where a Jewish assembly or congregation meets for religious worship and instruction.”

Moreover – as a further matter; besides

Anoint – “smear or rub with oil, typically as part of a religious ceremony.”

Matthew 5:18

For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

What this is saying is until heaven and earth pass away, Not even a very small amount be taken away from the law until the Law and commandments are fulfilled. If you break the commandments and teach wrong doing you will not make it to heaven and you will pay the price, but if you teach them good and to live by God’s word and commandments you will have a great, everlasting life in heaven. Until you stop listening to the scribes, Pharisees, and people who are teaching Bad and the false words of good and you live with righteousness and morally right you will not enter the kingdom of heaven.

Matthew 5:26

Verily I say unto thee, Thou shalt by no means come out thence, till thou hast paid the uttermost farthing.

What this is saying is you should not give directs on how to get somewhere without living and breathing with Gods word. You need to teach Gods word to your kids in the highest degree and teaching possible.

Matthew 6:2

Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

What this is saying is when you give money, gifts, donations to people who have less money don’t boast and brag about it like you are a better person because of it. Do it to glorify God do it because it felt right in your heart not because you have money and can talk about how you gave a bunch of money. There are many people who give in church and on the streets to brag about it. Give it so that we can show God’s good works in our everyday lives.

Matthew 6:5

And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

What Matthew 6:5 is talking about is pray with all your heart to God no matter where you are at home, at Church, or in the streets. Don’t pray just so people can see you and worship you. Pray because you know there is power in prayer and you want to help the people around you. We are men when everyone dies and you are being judged for your actions you won’t see me or your family you will see God and Jesus. So pray and truly mean it so you can have everlasting life in heaven!

Matthew 6:16

Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face;

What this is saying is in the future when you fast do it to grow with the Holy Spirit don’t be a hypocrite don’t cry and change yourself for a man or woman. When you fast have the church leaders anoint your head and wash your face spiritually so that God can know that the church is behind whatever prayer you are praying and want answered on his time. Also so that you can grow stronger with the Holy Spirit.
